Silke Mansholt, the German artist, presents series of paintings, collages and drawings including 'Frau Auch zu Hause', 'Tangos Cubanos' and 'Danzas de Amor que se Fue'. The designs were used in ballets by choreographer Billy Cowie for 'Danza Contemporanea de Cuba' and Luciana Croatto and extracts of these dances will also be screened as part of the exhibition at times to be announced here. DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS THIS EXHIBITION HAS BEEN POSTPONED
FRAU AUCH ZU HAUSE Frau Auch zu Hause was choreographed by Billy Cowie for Luciana Croatto and previewed at Fiver Festival in Logrono in January 2020. It will be premiered in Madrid in the spring of 2020. The whole piece is imbued with a Punk sensibility clearly shown in the black leather outfit of the dancer and this anarchic stance shows the dancer’s contempt for the sentiments expressed in the accompanying words. The scenes for the pieces also emphasize this Punk anarchy and are specially commissioned graffiti type artworks by the German artist Silke Mansholt with each section of the work having its own ‘wall’.
DANZAS DE AMOR QUE SE FUE Commissioned by Danza Contemporanea de Cuba with choreography by Billy Cowie and visual designs by Silke Mansholt. Premiered in Havana in spring 2019.
